Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation mission statement: The CanLyme goals are to facilitate awareness, education (for medical professionals and the public), and to facilitate research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease and related zoonotic disease.

A major CanLyme undertaking right now is raising funds to do human pathology. Without human tissue and fluid study we have no idea how prevalent Lyme disease and co-infections are in the human population of those Canadians suffering from the many mental, neurological, and musco-skeletal based illnesses. We do know that many people in Canada, who are included in the 1.5 million Canadians suffering from diseases of unknown origin, later found out they had Lyme disease and did well with treatment. We desperately need to find out what percentage of these are in fact chronic Lyme disease, a treatable illness.

These misdiagnoses include MS, Parkinson's, psychiatric disorders, bowel disorders, and many others. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia are frequent misdiagnoses. Collectively all these illnesses are costing our medical system many billions of dollars each year, and are ruining many family's and individual's quality of life. Canadian's are having to sell their homes to treat themselves or their children.

We need to identify what percentage of these 1.5 million are actually Lyme disease related diagnoses. Testing using present testing methods miss far too many cases.

The Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation is planning to raise $150,000.00 this year on fund raising campaigns. As an all volunteer organization, it will cost CanLyme approximately $1500 in total. Our fund-raising costs are limited to hosting our website and writing tax receipts. Any and all donations are gratefully received.
